MISSION STATEMENT» It is the mission of the Velma Volunteer Fire Department to preserve life and property of the community though a combined effort to educate children and adults alike of fire safety.
GENERAL FACTS» Velma Volunteer Fire Department, with a membership of 25, is led by Fire Chief David Bloodworth. The firemen roll on calls ranging from grass fires to accidents. They currently have 7 Grass Rigs, 3 Tankers, 1 Rescue Unit and 2 Pump Trucks. The Fire Department has mutual aid with surrounding area fire departments and trucking companies. The Department operates out of a 7 bay fire station with a classroom. Training sessions are conducted regularly to keep volunteers up to date on the latest life saving & fire safety techniques.
